My TV debut on GIDC and some new house updates

Just a quick post to say tomorrow night, Monday the 15th, I’ll be on the Great Interior Design Challenge Series 3. So tune in at 7pm BBC2 or watch it on BBC iPlayer. Not sure how ready I am for this as I really dislike photos of myself let alone on film. And I haven’t seen a preview either so I don’t even know what the judges will be saying!

If you received my newsletter last month and read it, I mentioned on there how my hobby decorating my own house got me into GIDC.

Here are snippets of my house from last year’s posts…

New Updates… {Excuse the iPhone snaps below…}
The latest additions to this is the back room in the loft which is currently a work-in-progress turning it into my son’s bedroom. This one below is the rustic mantle and surround with a walnut finish that I had made from an Ebay carpenter. I bought the vintage mirror from a shop in Islington a few years ago.

I am still deciding with my son what we could go on the walls here. These are furniture pieces we’ve had in the house for a while now: the side table was made by their great-grandfather, the chest and the bed were given to us. I recovered the lampshade and made the blue velvet cushion.

I also made a few small changes in the house elsewhere {it never stops}.

This one is in our cosy blue living room and the mirror was a heavy solid piece I snagged from Ebay for under £25.

Below is our 100-year-old oven, now unused with the chimney covered up. But I finally managed to decorate it with some natural-looking faux flowers along with other finds and original paintings.

And finally, I snagged a couple of sequin floral cushions from H&M over the Christmas sales for £3 each!
