Something different on the blog today… I just wanted to let everyone know that something exciting is happening in West Ham Park this Sunday 17th July – ‘Give it a Go!’. If you are into tennis or want to learn tennis, this event is for you as it coincides with the Great British Tennis Weekend. So if you are local or nearby come on over and enjoy the festivity. West Ham Park is a hidden gem in Newham and is owned by the City of London Corporation. It is also the largest park in the borough. Below are some snaps taken from my little pocket camera {non-professional shots} showing snippets of this most beautiful park with its ornamental garden as well as acres of open space for cricket and football and other sports. And the cherry on the cake is a fun playground with a splashpool for both young and older kids alike. Read on for more details of the event…
Recently West Ham Park they have secured funding from the people who run Wimbledon Tennis to open new tennis courts and encourage more people to play tennis. There will be many free events including taster sessions in tennis, pilates, yoga, etc. This Sunday’s Give it a Go Festival will be the official opening of the 12 new tennis courts and it will be a big party with live music, some pop-up street food, and a plant sale at the glass house – a nursery that provides plants and flowers to the city.
Here are a couple of snaps with my kids having fun under the giant trees.
