*I will help you with a plan of action beforehand and come up with an efficient wedding timeline
*I am fast and won’t spend ages on official photographs or posing
*I am pretty straightforward, organised, don’t fuss and have a great eye for detail
Let’s get the ball rolling…
My name is Lily Sawyer and I’m a wedding photographer based in London UK but happy to travel anywhere! As a creative documentary wedding photographer, I aim to give you as authentic and complete a story of your day while helping make your wedding day go as peacefully and smoothly as possible, staying out of your way as much as I can for you to enjoy your day without feeling like you are followed by paparazzi! I’m a bit of a ninja; I try to be as invisible as possible on your big day.
My clients and friends describe me as a creative-wedding-photographer-cum-wedding-planner because I’m super organised, rather full of ideas and can also be bold and adventurous. Included in my service is an in-depth discussion and planning of your wedding timeline, and that is just for starters! I prefer a natural look to my images, edited with a rich, warm and dreamy feel without ever over-editing so you will still look like yourselves – just even more stunning!
“You certainly made our day a success! You helped add structure to the day and made sure that we didn’t miss key moments without feeling like we were rushing. We loved the way that you were able to blend into the atmosphere so people didn’t feel too snapped at! In many ways you were able to be like a wedding planner helping alongside the bride to make the day work.” Tom & Emma
A few things you may not know about me…
* I have authored the eBook Wedding Photography: A guide to equipment, shooting, editing and more published by Digital Photography School, an online photography resource that I regularly write for
* I have been shooting professionally since 2009 and have captured many amazing stories: of weddings in various cathedrals, castles and churches including an ancient church from 975AD and have photographed the second commoner’s wedding in the history of St. Paul’s Cathedral in London as well as weddings of photographers, artists and some famous people
* My background is in Fine Art Painting and Teaching / Lecturing, having achieved a BA & MA in Fine Art and a PGCert in Higher Education
* I made it to the final 16 out of 8000 applicants to go on BBC2’s The Great Interior Design Challenge Series 3 which aired on February 2016.
When I’m not photographing weddings, you will find me painting or doing something creative with my kids or redecorating my house while my husband and kids make our home look perpetually “lived in”.
My favourite past time is going on dates with each of my children and of course with my ever-patient and supportive husband too. I love watching films with my family whenever I have a free weekend and occasionally binging on M&M peanuts.
If I could spend a week anywhere in the world it would either be swimming in warm crystal clear lakes in New Zealand, or admiring the Aurora Borealis up in the North Pole, keeping cosy in an ice hotel and snowboarding down powdery mountains.
“Thank you so much for your hard work on Saturday and for being so discreet – you melted in and reappeared in just the right way. We have had an enjoyable hour flicking through on our phones on holiday. They look fab and we can’t wait to see them on a big screen when we get back… We got home last night and sat down straight away to go through the photos on a larger screen and realised we’d missed loads on the phone screen. They are wonderful – thank you!!” Jonathan & Claire

“Friends had used Lily for their wedding and highly recommended her – we weren’t disappointed. Lily was highly organised and kept everything moving on the day. We were pleased with the quality of the photographs and enjoyed having Lily around.” Alex and Amy
