My eldest just turned eight. She had been planning her party for the past three months. She decided it was going to be a book themed party and her guests would come dressed up as their favourite book character. With the help of good ol’ google, we came up with some book club party ideas. Gold was also to be the main colour!
Phone photos with Instagram filter above: The birthday invites were sent a month in advance and we handmade them using home-printed vintage looking library cards, some pages from old books and some rick-rack ribbon fabric. I ‘cheated’ on the cake – just bought a Waitrose chocolate cake {really delicious by the way} and decorated it with buntings made from floral card, paper straws as posts, handmade tiny books and paper flowers.
We made a “Browse and Borrow” corner under the stairs displaying her favourite books, especially those she calls “chapter” books and some home-printed borrower’s cards.
We had a spot for “Books to trade” too as well as a couple of “Reading corners”.
I ordered some gold vintage paper straws from ebay and my lovely friend Karin’s Coca Cola vintage wooden crate all the way from America was perfect for the drinks.
We had Miffy turn up, Rainbow Magic fairies including the celebrant herself, Winnie the Pooh with a pot of honey, the White Rabbit and his clock, and one very stunning Snow White complete with handcrafted basket and red apple amongst other characters.
We also had a little cake for Miffy who turned five very recently.
Eight years have gone so quickly. I remember so clearly the day she was born. Happy birthday to my very special girl. We love you very much.
