We wanted to decorate our little home this Christmas season with DIY decor and children’s craft. As usual Pinterest gave me plenty of ideas as well as these two websites that I have recently come across The Artful Parent and Red Ted Art. These sites are full of family-friendly, clever and tasteful crafty ideas you can do with your children. They also link up to numerous other similar sites which are really helpful if you have very young children to entertain during the holidays. Descriptions of decors are provided under each photo below…
DIY Christmas staircase buntings
DIY felt tree decoration, snowflakes made out of doily, Starry Night watercolour Christmas card
DIY lamps using children’s art for the shades, wine glasses and battery-operated tea-lights
DIY buntings made of watercolour paintings about Christmas that the kids have done, DIY advent calendar with numbered stars and tags where we write what we are grateful for each day leading up to Christmas
Peace Joy and Love chalkboard
Children’s pastel drawings about Christmas on black paper, DIY snow globe using fake snow, plastic wine flutes and the children’s LEGO
The giant paper snowflake was shop-bought! I do love it.
Christmas tree angel decor using pegs and fuzzy sticks…
Christmas tree star decors wrapped in wool…
Handmade Christmas stockings…
Christmas town paper lanterns {my eldest LOVES carrying this around the house with the lights turned off and only the lantern illuminating her path}.
Our own DIY Christmas wrapping paper. The kids drew various Christmas tree designs, stars, snowflakes and vitage frames on a ver long piece of Kraft paper.
Last but not least, our gingerbread house. We only put this together though and then iced it, dusted it with icing sugar for snow and decorated it with pine cones for trees and chocolate straws for benches.
Finally…it may not be snowing outside but there’s certainly more than enough snow and warm glow on our cake this year!
Happy Christmas one and all!
