Elijah the wonderboy is almost 5 and he’s laughing…

Do you remember the wonderboy Elijah who continues to amaze us with his wonderful story overcoming health hurdles and beating the odds? If not, read this first where you will see photos from when he was only two and a half and his condition {Myotubular Myopathy} is explained a little. There are currently under 20 cases of this condition known in the UK today and Elijah has the most severe of all of them. Elijah no doubt is a living miracle. Now almost 5 years of age he continues to stun many with his progress…

Elijah smiles A LOT!

Although he cannot speak, he can hear and understand what you say. And so he interacts with all the enthusiasm and excitement he can muster. He can even communicate with you directly with the help of his iPad.

Elijah laughs too! Oh it was a joy to see. He laughed the hardest when I asked his Mummy to pose. Cheeky boy!

Elijah LOVES reading; he adores being read to and flips the pages so eagerly. We elevated him so he was sitting more upright than usual and you know what he did? He tapped both his feet so excitedly as if he was dancing to music!

He especially loves cuddle time with his Mummy and Daddy as a family sitting on the armchair and snuggled up together on the beanbag. The joy and contentment on his face were unmistakable.

Of course, Elijah’s wonder-parents continue to care for him day in and day out, taking turns while holding down their jobs as nurses. They give their all for Elijah and he knows it very well. Elijah is a joyful, contented, peaceful, obedient boy who loves his parents so much he makes them so incredibly happy.

Seeing Elijah and his parents again has touched my family in a new way. We have much to learn and we are privileged to have met and to know them. They are truly special and a blessing to everyone they touch. Thank you Elijah and keep laughing at the face of Myotubular Myopathy. God is with you.
