Full editing software such as Lightroom and Photoshop are a minefield to say the least, let alone being very expensive. But fear not, there are now many free or highly affordable editing software out there that can do simple editing that improve {or worsen!} the look of photos. Such examples of these free editing software are Picasa, Gimp, Photoscape, Picnik, Paint.NET, fotoflexer among many others.
There is also Apple’s iPhoto that is part of iLife when you purchase a Mac, and the super-affordable Adobe Photoshop Elements that can do all the basic editing you will ever need in the same way as the full Adobe Photoshop provides.
And of course, there’s the most popular iPhone and android app that transforms your photos in retro eye-candy in an instant, Instagram. Bought by Facebook for 1 billion just 2 days ago, one can only hope that this move will improve Facebook’s notorious and destructive photo-crunching to date. But I digress…
Anyway, I took these cherry blossom pictures with my point and shoot pocket camera Nikon Coolpix S6200 on a very sunny day. Apart from sharpening in Photoshop, these original photos are completely unedited and the edited versions just below each one have been processed in Photoshop to give them a softer, more feminine and vintage feel. Which ones do you prefer?
