DIY simple easy creative Christmas ideas 4: advent calendar with a twist | London Family Photographer

This is one of my favourites in this series on quick DIY simple easy creative Christmas ideas to get your home ready for the season.

Instead of the usual advent calendars, I hung a few of these on various handles and hooks around my house. These are printed gift tags with a peg stuck on the back. I printed a few numbered Christmas bible verses, tore the side for that vintage look and clipped them on to the pegs. Not all days are verses, some can be a little bag of sweets, lego characters, marbles or a special handwritten note.

There are plenty of possibilities. Just make sure whatever you hang on the peg is not too heavy. You can even make an advent hunt for the children to make it a more interesting activity. Making your own tags from old Christmas cards and some string and tape is quick and easy and costs next to nothing.

Or you can get nice star gift tags in packs of 8 for a pound from Tiger. Number the stars and there you have it, your advent calendar with a twist. Extra tip: You can frame it up for an even more rustic vintage look!
